With just a bit of prep work ahead of time, you can help to make your trip hassle free. Rancho Cal Insurance Services has put together a RV maintenance tips quick check list for you of all those items that you need to give some extra attention to before you head out for your trip in your RV.

RV Maintenance Tips

  • Exterior: If your RV’s been in storage for awhile, be sure to check for water leaks. This is one of the most common problems. Check all of the caulking to make sure it’s not damaged, cracked, or missing.
  • Tires: Check the condition, wear, & pressure of your RV tires.
  • Interior: Get it sparkly clean with a good cleaning. Look for any damaged areas while cleaning your RV.
  • Appliances: After you’ve cleaned them from the inside, be sure to open the outside access covers & inspect both the refrigerator & water heater. Test them to make sure they work.
  • Batteries: Inspecting the batteries involves checking for corroded terminals, fluid levels, &  performing a load test. It may be best to have the batteries checked by a professional.
  • LP: Check for leaks & consult a professional.
  • Water: Inspect & service the hot water heater. Sanitize your fresh water tanks.
  • Generator: Test it to see if it works properly, check the air filter & oil level.
  • Hoses: Radiator hoses need to be replaced about every 5 years. Dump hoses also have a limited shelf life, be sure to check for any holes or leaks. Remember to check the waste tank valves of your RV too.
  • Awnings: Make sure they operate properly & inspect the fabric. If the springs need adjusting, have it done by a professional.
  • Insurance: Time to review your policy, we are here to help!
